News for the 2014-15 School Year

9-14: Beginning on 9/15, the MS/HS PTSA is holding its first Scholastic Book Fair of the year (in room 4), and is hoping to sell 300 books. Towards that end, they are offering incentives including a daily drawing for $25. Students who participate in the following football-themed spirit days may fill out an entry card, and may also submit an additional card for every book they purchase. 
Wednesday: Wear your favorite team jersey
Thursday: Wear stripes to honor our referees
Friday: Wear orange, black and white

9-14: Congratulations to former Athletic Director Charlie Jufer, for earning the N-O League Foundation Award this year. 'Jufe' is being recognized for his countless contributions to athletics in the Niagara Orleans League and Section VI throughout the years.  

9-14: The MS/HS PTSA is looking for a new Spirit Wear Design from anyone, students or staff. Designs can be submitted until September 19th. They are also accepting suggestions for how to promote Red Ribbon Week as well.

9-14: The Niagara Orleans Counselors Association (NOCA) is sponsoring a College Fair at NCCC on 9/25, from 6:30 - 8 p.m. These college fairs help NOCA award scholarships every spring, ranging from $1,000 to $16,000, to seniors in Orleans and Niagara County. 9-14: On 9/10, WCS alumni ('05) and current MLB pitcher Steve Geltz faced off against legendary NY Yankee, Derek Jeter. Geltz, who plays for the Tampa Bay Rays, pitched 2 innings against the Yankees, striking out 3 and giving up zero runs. Also, he forced Jeter to fly out to right field.

9-14: The Elementary PTA has taken an active role in dispensing information about elementary school activities, and has set up a website and Facebook page to keep parents informed. Please visit the following links if interested:

9-14: Congratulations to MS PTSA president Mary Martinez, who was recently recognized by her employer DuPont, for her volunteer work at the school. DuPont awarded $1,000 to the MS PTSA as part of Mary's award. 9-14: The Annual Wilson Boys/Girls Alumni Soccer Game will be held on Saturday, 9/27 at noon at the William Leardini Soccer Complex. All former WCS soccer players are welcome to play. For more information, please contact Mr. TJ Baia

9-14: Congratulations to alumni Jeff Dinse (1986) for being included in this article from American Profile magazine, recognizing him as an outstanding teacher: 

9-14: Congratulations to alumni Bob Hartz (1986), for earning induction into the University of Rochester's Athletic Hall of Fame. Bob played both baseball and football while at U of R, and also returned as a baseball coach. He will be inducted next month.

The Induction Ceremony will be held on Saturday, 9/27 at 6pm at the Wilson Fire Hall.  Tickets are $30 and may be purchased through Jeff Roth, the Athletic Director.
